First element that is going to be introduced is a resistor - R. This element is called resistor because it prevents some amount of current from passing through it and thus, can be imagined as a narrow passage along a pipe which lets only defined amount of current. After a resistor there is less current flowing or, in our case, water. It means that current level is lower if the resistor is bigger and vice versa. That also comes as a result of this formula I=U/R (electric current = voltage/resistance)
