The cinema |
|
There weren't many people in the cinema hall. We were waiting patiently for the door to open while more and more people were coming. Everybody had a big paper sack of popcorn and some drink in their hands, as if we were all hungry and thirsty. It has always made me a bit angry. Aren't we watching a film? This isn't a place where people are supposed to eat. Finally, somebody opened the door and we took our seats. The film started just on time. After a few minutes the screen became black and whole cinema got dark. We didn't know what was happening. Jenny started hugging me in the dark. She was definitely afraid. If not so, she would never hug me. I liked her very much, but I was afraid to tell her, since we have been good friends from childhood. Some men appeared with torches in their hands. They said that nothing was going to be bad if we didn't not complain. As I understood, we became the hostages of some mad kidnappers. They wanted to liberate their country from, as I understood, some evil dictator. I was thinking what it had got to do with me, but I kept my opinion for myself. After all, what do I know about politics and things like that. I decided to stick to Jenny and maybe tell her about my feelings. This was probably my only chance, since the situation was unusual and she could later forget about it, if she didn't like the idea. The dark was perfect and everybody was talking loudly while the kidnappers were waving guns and trying to keep people calm. "Jenny, you know, I have loved you since I met you. Do you know that?" I said. "Yes, I know Jim, but let's leave it for later. We could lose our lives here. I love you, too." she said. When I heard that I got shocked. She told me that, as if it was Good morning and continued to stare at kidnappers. They suddenly left the cinema without taking anybody with them. The light came back and we all went out. Somebody told us that, they got what they wanted and nobody was hurt. I looked at Jenny with a big smile and we went our homes.I was in the seventh heaven. One little revolution brought me everything I was dreaming about for years. I didn't know that I was a lucky person.
