We were in the middle of nowhere. The trees were tall and there was no stream where it supposed to be. It had dried out since it was summer, so we couldn’t find the right way. We thought that the map was accurate and relied on its guidance, but it turned out that some details were missing, so we got lost. We didn’t know our position and nobody had the slightest idea how to find the way to the resort, although we had left it the previous day quite confident. Our scout’s skills were put to the test. Ben was angry. He wanted to quarrel, but he couldn’t find the partner. The rest of us were quiet. We were thinking how to find the way out. Suddenly, we heard something. It was humming noise coming closer and closer. We all raised our heads and saw a huge flock of birds flying over the wood. It took them about five seconds to pass over us. The magnificence of the flock made us forget our problem for a moment. “Yes!” shouted Sandra, “I know!” “It is easy. Those birds were heading south. You know, they move there every year. So, if we take the same direction, we will get to the resort in two hours.” Sandra's idea was great. When we saw our hotel again, we all thanked her. We felt happy and Sandra earned our admiration. She was glowing with joy. |
